Pitch In is a STEM-centric, one act middle-grade musical written with gender inclusivity, flexible cast sizes, and variable budgets in mind.
About The Show: When a small-town middle school loses funding for extracurricular activities, the students compete in a CommuniTEAM competition to try and save their beloved programs... and their school. Following the Science Club, a Robotics super villain, and the Show Choir, we see the students navigate stage fright, sabotage, and new friendships as they learn what it really means to put aside their differences and work as a team. This musical is a celebration of unity, innovation, and the indomitable spirit of youth coming together to overcome obstacles, proving that when young minds pitch in, the possibilities are endless.

Licensing: Pitch In is available for independent licensing via TayLizLou, Inc. In addition to full script, score, and tracks, optional add ons may include virtual master classes or Q&A with the creative team, pending availability.
Show History:
After running a successful workshop with Ozark Actors Theater, we (the writers, Taylor Louderman, Hannah Kloepfer, and Nat Zegree) programmed a youth workshop at STAGES in St. Louis in March...of 2020. When it was canceled due to the pandemic, we quickly adapted the stage musical into a "zoomical" and engaged with young artists across the globe.
By early 2021, we had worked with hundreds of students across 13 countries, partnered with educational platforms such as Broadway Workshop (multiple productions); and directed a sister project that was streamed on Broadway On Demand. You might enjoy the early trailer for our virtual productions below!
Since then, Pitch In has received fully staged productions in St. Louis and San Francisco, with upcoming productions in Oregon, Maine, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and New York!

PRINCIPAL KLINK, a bumbling but well-meaning administrator, delivers the disheartening news of budget cuts that have led to the suspension of all extracurricular activities. The announcement sends a wave of disappointment through the auditorium, as students realize their beloved clubs and teams are at risk. However, hope is rekindled when ALEX and CASEY, the intimidating and ambitious Student Council President and Vice President, introduce an opportunity to save these activities.
They announce the nationwide CommuniTEAM competition, spearheaded by the renowned Elona Schnuckerberg (a beloved Oakfield alumna and influential woman in STEM). The competition offers a grant to the winning school, which could restore the extracurricular programs.

The students are tasked with forming teams to develop innovative pitches using STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) concepts. The goal is to showcase their talents and ideas to win the competition and secure the grant. This challenge ignites a spark of determination among the students, including the show choir, led by the vibrant and outgoing QUINN and LEE, who are eager to represent Oakfield and preserve their school’s vibrant extracurricular life...
